Many of us don’t realize that it is our habits that lead us to put on weight.
I know of some people who, immediately after dinner, and reach for junk food as they plonk on the sofa in front of the TV. They do it all the time and that has become a habit. So how not to grow fat and become overweight?
There are others who skip lunch and a short while later, reach for junk food because they feel hungry. They find themselves eating more and more of these nutrient empty food to satisfy their stomachs.
How often do you find yourself eating because of the emotional state of mind that you are in?
Many people tend to eat when they are feeling sad, depressed, lonely, or even when they are happy because these emotions trigger the desire for food.
Such emotion- related eating ‘habits’ are difficult to break simply because most of the time we don’t realize that they are there. We get so used to reaching for chocolates, crisps, chips, etc etc because they are tasty and good to eat. Eating them makes us feel better.
Because we don’t realize that what we are doing is over-eating, we find ourselves trapped in the cycle of overeating and weight gain.
Then when someone says “You’re looking very prosperous these days!”, you take a long hard look at yourself and decide to lose some weight. Habits die hard and you need to weigh your options.
