We do not know the value of a thing until we have lost it. When we are young, we hardly ever worry about the importance of having good health. Falling sick is far from our minds and we think that it will never happen to us. We are far too busy enjoying life.
Then one day we realise that we are not as healthy as before. Weight has been piling up and we have been expanding sideways. Shock and disbelief set in when the doctor pronounces that we have high blood pressure, diabetes, etc and that worse could come our way if we do not do something about it.
The first thing the doctor says is that we have to lose weight and we have to exercise. He gives us an appointment for the next checkup and before then, we must work at losing weight or we will have to go on medication to keep the health risks at bay.
So what should we be aiming for?
1. We need to eat healthy food, meaning that we must eat plenty of vegetables and fruit, protein and carbohydrates. I mentioned the super food in my previous post which will help us to lose weight.
2. We need to have a regular exercise program. Exercise will reduce the high blood pressure and bring down the blood sugar levels.
We should aim to have our BMI in the range of 18.5 to 25. This will keep us at a healthy weight. Get a pedometer and try to achieve a target of walking 10,000 steps a day. Maintain a blood pressure of 120/80mmHG. Quit smoking and limit the alcohol.
Bear in mind that excessive overweight and obesity will lead to high blood pressure or hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers. Don’t you think that the possibility of getting these life-threatening diseases will motivate us to take responsibility for our health?
So if you are already overweight, begin a weight loss program. Some of you may need extra help in getting the weight off so try out Proactal or Acai Berry. Either of these will help you to lose weight
