Sometimes a person wonders why he hasn’t lost much weight although he has been on a weight loss program.
Well, there are several reasons why he has very little result to show.
He could have exceeded the required number of daily calories. Perhaps he gave in to temptation and took extra calorie-laden but nutrient-empty food which in turn made him eat more.
Or he could be at an age where his metabolic rate has slowed down.
He could be lacking sleep. If he keeps very late hours, he will definitely not have enough sleep and this would make him lack energy. To compensate he would eat more so that he would not fall asleep at his work station.
His water intake may not be sufficient. He needs to drink plenty of water if he wants to lose weight.
He may not be taking in enough protein. He requires 1 gram of protein to each kg of body weight everyday. Perhaps he is a vegetarian or a picky eater or he may be eating irregularly. Or he could be suffering from long term constipation as he does not drink enough water and lacks fibre in his diet.
He could be consuming too much alcohol or sugar-laden drinks, or too much fatty food.
There are so many reasons. So it would be very helpful for him if he were to keep a food diary to see what he has been eating and he will be able to take the necessary action to get himself back on track.
Noting how much exercise he has been doing and how often will also help him to adjust his exercise regime.
